If you send money to or from a Canadian bank account, you’ll need a nine-digit Canadian Transit Number.
It identifies which branch a bank account is held at and forms part of your full 12-digit bank account number.
“Routing number format: 0YYYXXXXX Where YYY= institution number & XXXXX= transit number.
For example, if the institution number is 001, and the transit number is 00022, then the bank’s routing number is 000100022.”
